An Ode to Jeremy Hopson at 16
Bright as the sun with a mind sharp as steel,
Laughter that echoes, a joy you can feel.
With his father Jared to guide him through life’s winding course,
He’s becoming a strong man, with intellect as his force.
A thirst for knowledge, a love for the past,
In history and politics, his passions will last.
“Bishop Hopson” they call him, grounded and sure,
Guided by his values, his spirit so pure.
With a heart full of kindness, compassion runs deep,
He carries the burdens of others who weep.
Gentle and caring, his nature is sweet,
A light to the world, and everyone he meets.
In classrooms he’s soaring, with memory so sharp,
An A-student wonder, with many gifts to impart.
More at home with the grown-ups, in thought and debate,
His words cut through nonsense, his stance standing straight.
Out in the wild, with nature his guide,
Through rivers and forests, he conquers with pride.
His voice a strong beacon, in debate he’s supreme,
An orator’s wisdom, a young man’s dream.
Jeremy, at sixteen, you shine like a star,
Your future is bright, you’ll go far, oh so far.
Uncle Andy is proud of the man you’ve become,
With love in his heart for all that you’ve done.”
